In this course, students will develop the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to solve problems involving electrical current, voltage, and power. Students will mathematically model circuit elements including resistors, capacitors, and inductors. Students will apply Kirchhoff's laws, nodal and mesh analyses, superposition, and Thévenin's and Norton's theorems to analyze electrical circuits. They will also analyze time responses of first- and second-order dynamic circuits, including RC, RL, and RLC circuits. Throughout the course, students will gain experience using software packages to simulate and analyze various electric circuits.
